Dustin Before
Hey guys, Dustin here. I know, I am so quiet you almost don’t notice I am here. But here I am, standing alone in my kennel longingly watching the people pass me by, over and over again, year after year. I have been waiting for ten long years for a family to bring me home. I don’t have a jump out and grab you type of personality, so I have been pretty much ignored all of these years. I am the quiet and shy type and just sort of peer out of my kennel and hope that I catch someone’s eye. But I never have. I am a loveable, gentle guy that isn’t too pushy. I am 11 years old, but perfectly healthy. I have heard talk that I am a shepherd mix with the most precious ears, one flops down and the other stands straight up. I weigh about 45lbs and I am house-trained. I get along with other dogs and cats and would be no trouble at all. Just want to know what it is like to belong to a family. Ten years is a long time to patiently wait to be the chosen one. Will you choose me? I would accept!
DUSTIN NOW!He gives us kisses all the time now. Everything is great. He’s an amazingly well-behaved dog. We gave him a Bobo (dog toy) and he’s loved it to death. In fact, he managed to tear it to shreds after two weeks. We gave him a replacement and he gnawed a hole in that one in a day. So now we gave him a rope toy. At first he didn’t quite like it but I unknotted a bit of it and it gave him more room to chew on it. What he really likes is when you pretend you’re going to take it from him. He likes to wrestle with you over it. But Dustin will cheat! He grabs the toy by the center and you have to grab it by either end. Then the tug of war starts. He starts to work his way down the toy to where your fingers are. Whe he gets there, he nips your fingers to get you to let go. He wins! Then you have to do it all over again. Everyone who’s met him thinks he’s the greatest dog. So we’re making a really good case for adopting older dogs cause people can see the benefits of getting a dog who’s not going to be bouncing off the walls.
