THIS POOR LITTLE GIRL WAS FOUND DUMPED ON A RURAL ROAD IN HOMESTEAD DEAF AND BLIND IN ONE EYE. She is between 8-10 years old and she is a cockapoo mix approx 25 lbs. She was in such pain with one eye having mature cataracts and one eye with glaucoma. Through the generosity of many people, both financially and physically, Sweetheart had eye surgery last week. She had one eye removed and the other had the cataracts removed. Prior to her having the surgery, she was required to have a dental to remove the bacteria that had been festering in her mouth for years.
Her one week follow up this past Friday was very positive and the doctor was very pleased with her progress. She is doing great and every day her activity level is increasing and she seems to have regained some of her hearing as well! We expect a full recovery. She is very low energy and she has never even barked–just a quiet little thing that is no trouble at all.
Her foster mom has been an around the clock nurse, administering drops throughout the night(if you have ever had to give eyedrops to a doggie that doesn’t want them, you know that it is not easy).
Two more weeks of eyedrops and follow ups with the Doc, and Sweetheart is ready to go to a home.
We sincerely hope that someone will make her a part of their family, after all that she has gone through.
If you would like to meet her, please call Mirta 305 484 1349 or Kathy 305 401 4693.
