I know my best friend Kathy has been sending around a few of us seniors lately. I can tell in her face that she is so sorry that she can’t find us our forever homes and we have been here so long. I am glad that she didn’t give up before she got to my turn to have my handsome mug displayed ! My name is Freddie and I am 10 years old. I know it is hard to believe but I have lived my entire life here at the shelter. I am a hound mix and about 60 lbs. Not one thing wrong with this guy though. I am healthy as a horse and still have lots of steam to burn off. If I had been a little less fun loving and active as a pup, they say that I would have been adopted a decade ago but I was quite the ball of fire. Loved to play, play, play and I guess no family could keep up with me. But the years have slowed me down a little and I am now still lively and happy but more mellow and I would love to finally have a real home to call my own. I do get along with other dogs, not sure about the felines, maybe Kathy can introduce me to one and then she can let you know. I walk well on a leash, LOVE my stuffed toys, even walk with them in my mouth if I can sneak one out of the kennel when they are busy with my collar and not looking! I am also happy to sleep in the sun or the yard and just relax. My best home will be in Florida, because I live in Miami and everyone in the shelter wants to be able to meet my new family before I go. If you have some extra room for a real Romeo, I am for you.
FREDDIE AFTER………… and the winner is Freddie. He waited 10 years for his forever home. And finally the angel arrived in a white and red jet! Jim and his wife Marcy are the angels from heaven who opened up their hearts and home to provide love to Freddy for the rest of his days. It is beyond our dreams! Thank you to everyone else that helped with this miracle. Doc, and Merrill, and everyone else in the long chain of emails and giving hearts that led to Freddy’s new life.
Freddies new dad reports on the plane flight back and Freddie’s first day in his new home “Freddie looked out the window for 45 mins, he knew…… He has been to my vet, swimming in the lake, a sunset boat ride and the best streak (only) he ever had.”
Kathy, this story is the first one I’ve read on your website and I will savour it for the rest of this day. May the beautiful big puppy who caused our paths to cross, be equally lucky. Here’s to “Diesel”, may you be as lucky as Freddie.
