He wouldn’t have wanted us to be sad, because he was a jolly boy. Although Rusty was one of the many that fell through the cracks, that never was lucky enough to find his forever home, he didn’t lack love from his shelter family. Rusty made Pet Rescue his home from the time he was a little pup. On the larger side, he claimed the title of our big huggable bear with his copper colored lion’s mane and his dancing eyes.  He was regal and walked majestically on his leash, but then sometimes quickly, almost prancing because he enjoyed his walks so much.  Rusty loved his toys and always greeted you with a squeaky toy from the back of his kennel.  He loved to play fetch and even his older years didn’t slow him down. He would bring his toy right back to you and beg you to toss it again. We all desperately wanted him to find his forever home where he would have been loved and cherished and appreciated as he deserved, but it wasn’t to be. We will always remember Rusty with overwhelming love and use his memory as constant encouragement in our mission to find homes for as many as we can. That is our promise and commitment to Rusty, our big, huggable bear.
